The next burger on my Quest to find the best burger in Lexington, KY was the bacon cheeseburger from Sawyer’s. Now this is a different kind of burger than the last two I reviews. The Sawyer’s burger is a smaller burger cooked more like street food or food truck food. Made to order, simple meat on a flat grill and a bun.
The Sawyer’s burger was good, but it lacked the flavors that the Copper River Grill Burger or Bronte Burger’s had. It was a busy lunch time so maybe cooking all the burgers at once so quickly diminished the flavor. Or perhaps it is the size of the burger patty.
Fries were good, the cheese and bun were great, but the burger patty itself was just a greasy burger.
BurgerQuest Ranking So Far:
Big Kahuna Burger ( Bronte Bistro )
Bigfoot Mother In Law ( Copper River Grill )
Sawyer’s Bacon Cheese Burger ( Saywer’s Downtown )
My second burger on my quest to find the best burger in Lexington, KY was the Kahuna Burger from Bronte Bistro, the cafe inside Joseph Beth Book Store.
Big Kahuna Burger
8 oz angus burger topped with ham, grilled pineapple, Swiss cheese
and our tangy barbecue sauce. Served with steak fries. 10.95
The Big Kahuna was similar to my last burger, the Bigfoot Mother In Law. It was a little smaller. It still had burger, ham, cheese. It added pineapple and a tangy barbecue sauce, both of which were an added delight. I liked the Big Kahuna burger from Bronte better than the Bigfoot burger from the Copper River Grill. There was a little more char to the Big Kahuna and it was a much better size than the Bigfoot. I was able to eat all of the Big Kahuna. The flavors worked together much better than the Bigfoot.

I decided to try to find the best burger in Lexington, KY. My dad took me up on it and we will be visiting different burger places in the future. We started just outside town in Nicholasville with Bigfoot’s Mother in law from The Copper River Grill.
Giant burger patty, grilled ham, crispy-fried shrimp, Monterrey Jack, Remoulade sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions & pickles.
Yes I know it is sort of a chain type place, but I saw the Bigfoot mentioned a few times when people ask about a good burger in town and it was good.
The meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly to order. The shrimp was average fried shrimp that didn’t really add anything to the burger. The grilled ham, monterey jack cheese, and remoulade sauce went well together and added to the symphony of flavors in this burger. The only downside was the bun. I ate my sides first and the bottom bun got a little soggy.
Service was great. The atmosphere of The Copper River Grill made me think I was back in sitting near the side of a mountain on vacation. It really takes you out of where you are and puts you off in the back country lodge.
You should also keep in mind the Bigfoot’s Mother in Law is a big burger. I was only able to eat 3/4 of it if that. Overall I would get one again if I was super hungry. If not I would probably stick with a normal size burger.
I don’t think I will rate the burgers until I have tried a few, but check back in the future for more updates on my Best Burger of Lexington Quest.
