Today in this crazy, up and down journey to get healthy I reached the -130lb mark. Yes, you read that right, I’ve lost 130 pounds. Some days I can’t even believe that I lost 25lbs let alone now 130lbs, but here I am.
This past week I’ve had a few health issues and it has reminded me again why I began the journey to get healthy. It’s made focus again on my diet and remind myself that losing weight wasn’t just all about a number, but about feeling strong and healthy. And that just little over a year ago I hated exercise and now when I’m told to hold off for a bit I miss it and can’t wait to start up my routine again.
Starting Weight: 317lbs | Current Weight: 187lbs | Goal Weight: 175lbs
Happy New Years Eve everyone! As 2013 comes to a close I’ve been thinking about where I’ve been and where I want to go in 2014 on my journey of getting healthy.
I changed my perspective on life in 2013. In 2012 I made a decision to lose weight and live, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I took that decision for what it was. It wasn’t just about the numbers on the scale (which don’t get me wrong is awesome), but it was about being HEALTHY. For me and for my family. It’s about living a better life, physically AND mentally. It’s been an up and down journey of soul searching, pushing myself beyond where I thought I could go, coming to terms with my issues with food, coping with my anxiety and depression, and gaining a lot more STRENGTH than I ever thought was in me.
I hit some major milestones that years ago I thought I would never reach. I hit the -100lb mark. I RAN! I got under 200lbs in weight. I completed the Insanity workout AND Focus T25 (because I love Shaun T that much). I got some serious muscles! I went from a size 24 to a size 12. I stopped drinking soda. I drank A LOT more water. I remembered how much I love cooking.
And I became a STRONGER person. For the two most important people in my life. I made my health a priority.
So, what do I plan for 2014? Continue on my journey. Always striving for a healthier, stronger, better version of myself…mentally and physically. Focus more on fitness than on the numbers on the scale. Although reaching my goal of 175lbs in 2014 is on the agenda (only 20lbs away). Other goals are to run more and hopefully complete a 15K, lift more weights, constantly challenge myself physically, clean up my diet more, and mentally, work on becoming stronger and staying positive to propel me forward.
Here’s to a Happy and Healthy 2014!
