Getting Healthy: Biggest Loser RunWalk 5K

This weekend I participated in the Biggest Loser RunWalk.  As a fan of the Biggest Loser show for years, I was really excited when I learned that the company I work for would be sponsoring their Run Walk event during the Kentucky Gathering at the Kentucky Horse Park.  I had to participate!

I signed up for the 5K run.  I hadn’t run in awhile though.  I had a month to train.  I started incorporating running into my exercise schedule 2 – 3 times a week.  Building myself up again to that 5K distance. I noticed how much my other exercises had helped me improve my cardio which in turn improved my runs.  On my practice 5K runs my time was a little over 35 minutes.  Which honestly I thought was amazing since when I first began running after completing the C25K program I did a 5K in about 45 minutes.

Excuse the hair – it was crazy windy, and well…running.

My friend Abigail came with me and participated in the race.  We had a lot of fun and the best part was it was my fastest time yet for a 5K!  33:45 for 3.1 miles!  I was #18 in my age group for runners!
