I decided to give Evernote another try and came across an awesome tool called Skitch.
Skitch allows you to take a screenshot and annotate it. It is simple, easy to use, and auto saves your files to Evernote. Skitch runs on Mac OSX, Windows, iOS and android.
On OSX Skitch sits in the menu bar and when you click on it you can take a screenshot of the whole screen, a timed screenshot, a crosshair selection screenshot, or a screenshot of your previously selected crosshair. That last part is great for a Web Designer who wants to try out a bunch of different colors in a layout.
You can save the files directly to your computer by drag and drop or copy and paste and they are all saved to your Evernote Account. Links to the files can be shared with others as needed. Skitch also allows you to annotate your screenshot with arrows, text, boxes, circles and more. You can even blur out parts of the image. Here are some examples:
Using it on your mobile phone you can take a picture of an area and show off measurements and layout ideas. Great for the interior designer or home staging specialist.
